Problem: "Relaying Denied" problem when sending emails out from Outlook Express


Description:

When you try to send emails out of your Outlook Express Email program you see an error message similar to the one below:

 



Solution.


Start Outlook Express

Click on the "Tools" menu at the top menu bar



Scroll down the list and click on the "Accounts…" menu


Once you open the "Accounts…" window, you'll see the list of email accounts in Outlook Express similar to the one below.


Double-click on the Pacific Express Networks account you want to modify like the mail.pacex.net you see above.

The email account properties window similar to the one below will open up

 



Click on the "Servers" tab and the properties window will look like the one below:


Make sure the settings are similar to the ones above except you'll use your Pacific Express email account as the "Account Name" instead of username@pacex.net you see above.

Also make sure that the "My Server requires authentication" box is checked

You should now have no Relaying Denied errors when you send emails out from Outlook Express

Additional information for DSL or cable model Internet users

If you use Cable modem or DSL Internet connectivity to go online and still want to access your Pacific Express Networks email make the following additional changes to your pacex.net email accounts:

Click on the "Settings" button next to "My Server requires authentication" and you should see a window similar to the one below open up:


Make sure the "Log on Using" radio button is selected

Enter your DSL/cable modem account username and password
Check the "Remember password" so that you do not have to re-enter passwords every time you check your email.
